The brands that come to mind when we say the word ‘fashion’ actually make up the tiniest space in the entire definition of ‘fashion’.
How people dress around the world depending on their culture and religion is an interesting topic and should be researched about. This article will take you on a tour around the world and will expose you to things you have never seen before.
Wikipedia describes fashion as “a term used interchangeably to describe the creation of clothing, footwear, accessories, cosmetics, and jewelry of different aesthetics and their mix and match into outfits that depict distinctive ways of dressing (styles and trends)”
But I think fashion is much more than that as it can signify self image, culture, status and much more about a group or person than there is to signify by word.

Let's start off with France, easing into the topic with a well known fashion country.
French citizens are highly exposed to luxurious pieces of exclusive design. Women of French culture choose effortlessly elegant looks when going to work. Sunglasses and hats play large roles in everyday wear. For Men, elegant wear includes button up cardigan jackets, layered with undershirts. For the more spontaneous gentlemen, patterned designer button up shirts are high in demand. The night wear also follows the pattern of elegance and sophistication in French wear.
Following with a country that hides great fashion beneath its wings, India. Do you know what a sari is? sari, also spelled saree, is a beautiful principal outer garment of women of India, consisting of a piece of often brightly coloured, silk, cotton, or, in recent years, synthetic cloth that is as long as 4 to 6 meters. A sari represents femininity, grace, creativity and adaptation in Indian culture making it a piece of clothing with a nice meaning behind it. Mens wear in India depends on the occasion more than womens wear. On special, religious occasions men get all dolled up in Sherwanis, which are long-sleeved close fitting knee-length coats with a stand-up collar. They also are common in bright, beautiful colors and patterns. Casual clothing for men in India include long sleeved Kurta, which is a long loose shirt made of cotton or silk. Some other men might prefer western clothes, casual pants and a shirt
Thailand: Famous with its Glorious tropical beaches and mouth watering street food, Thailand exposes us to a new branch of cultural fashion we haven’t seen in this article yet. Thai Cultural fashion leans more towards religion than culture. Thailand holds over 66 Million Buddhists, Covering the country with beautiful Temples and aspects of Religion. Panung is a Traditional Garment worn in Thailand for semi-formal occasions. A Panung is a cloth usually tied to the waist, usually hanging down to the ankles. Panung’s are unisex, meaning with small adjustments, both males and females can wear it. For the ladies, Panungs include another piece that is wrapped around the chest and shoulders. Colors like red, gold and purple are commonly preferred. The wearers of the Panung usually decorate themselves with golden jewels. Including Large gold earrings, a big necklace which has colorful jewels and thin chains all around the body. In daily life, the population of Thailand prefers Ruean Tons. A Ruean Ton is a casual formal women's attire which includes a tight button up silk top, and a long straight matching skirt.
Now from the Heart of southeast Asia, we are traveling to the depths of the astonishing Middle East. Iran always manages to leave people with a gasp because of the real beauty of the clothing and culture. Since Iran is a strict Muslim country, the cultural clothing for women includes a Hijab. A Hijab is a religious garment, a scarf worn around the head, covering most of the hair. Hijabs can be worn in different ways, with a cap underneath which covers every part of the hair, or showing a small part of the hair in front. There are also different ways to tie it, which can compliment every outfit! Due to the diversity of Iranian ethnicity there are lots of different and beautiful clothing in the country. Still many people in small towns and villages wear their Iran traditional clothes. One of these traditional clothing is Lori which belongs to Lorestan, Fars Province and Yasooj. Nomad tribes also wear such traditional clothing like Lor people. It has a filet and many lace and sequin details. It consists of a headdress; a knee-length dress slit on the sides, with long sleeves. Jewelry is also quite common.
To finish off with a country known for its quick development and large companies, USA. Brands we might shop from for daily life clothes might include lots of American brands. Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Gap, the North Face and much more! Now, the true Culture of America lies in the Native American part. Native Americans had occupied these American lands for at least 20,000 years. Traditionally, most Native American cultures relied on some combination of leggings; breechclout, or simple short-like coverings; and shirt or jacket for men, and leggings and a full-length dress for women. Leather shoes, known as moccasins were also worn. Beautiful hats with feathers are also quite common with Native Americans.
There are many different ways to describe “Fashion” so judgment about someone's cultural wear only brings up one word. Useless.
