Skincare and what to watch out for.
Come along as I walk you through all the facts, questions and recommendations.
Skincare. Do you use it? Doing skincare is a part of overall health and well-being.
Keeping your skincare routine simple as a kid or teen is key. Using too many products might cause breakouts. Children’s skin is delicate so keeping a 2-3 step routine is appropriate. Most people start a skincare routine at 12 and under. If you are seeing pimples, acne, dryness, whiteheads or blackheads you might want to start. Have you ever used a product of your friends and seen some acne, pimple or blackheads and such on your face the next day? This is because we all have different skin. Most common skin types are normal, dry, combination and oily. Below you will find what skin type you are.
Oily
You can recognize oily skin by the all day shine and the appearance or enlarged pores. If you have oily skin blackheads, whiteheads, acne or cystic acne may occur.
Normal
Normal skin has a smooth/soft texture. Although it is called “normal skin” everyone has dealt with acne, pimples and maybe even some dry patches of your skin from time to time.
Dry
Dry skin is usually flaky, dull, uneven to the touch and itchy from time to time.Dry skin needs thick moisturizer or even an oil (eg: baby oil).
Combination
Combination skin is a blend of all of these. You may have an oily T-zone (forehead, nose and chin area) while other parts of your face feel dry. Your skin might feel uneven in parts and oily in others.
Sensitive
Sensitive skin is a common condition which means your skin is more prone to reactions such as redness and itching. Most people who have sensitive skin notice occasional itching, burning, or stinging patches of skin. Kids with sensitive skin have to be especially careful when starting with skincare because products that are safe for other kids might harm their skin.
Kids should be using gentle face wash. Even though you might think your face is clean, you're wrong.Your face might be clean but also might be dry. Moisturizer is very important too. Dry skin will need a heavy moisturizer with deeply hydrating ingredients whereas with oily skin you should be using a water based moisturizer that is less heavy than other moisturizers. Normal skin already possesses’ natural moisture balance but to maintain this a nice recommendation is CeraVe moisturizing lotion. With combination skin, some oil-free moisturizers are great to use and are less likely to clog your pores. Sensitive skin needs specific ingredients in their moisturizer like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, ceramides, and niacinamide. These ingredients help to hydrate the skin without any irritation. Some examples may be CeraVe or Cetaphil which is made for all skin types. There are many other products that may be great for your skin type but, then this article would go on for a very long time.
What is acne?
Acne is a common skin condition that happens when hair follicles (a tube-like structure (pore) that surrounds the root and strand of a hair. ) under the skin become clogged. Sebum oil (Sebum is the oily substance produced by tiny glands that lie just beneath the surface of the skin. ) helps keep skin from drying out and dead skin cells to clog your pores.. Most often, the outbreaks of acne occur on the face but can also appear on the back, chest, neck and shoulders.A common tool for acne that you might hear about is spot treatments. Spot treatment targets a specific problem area so it can dry out the blemish, but not your entire face. If you’ve just started getting acne and you’re thinking, “why is this appearing on my face?” just remember we’ve all been there. Acne is tough to deal with, but it’s an entirely normal part of growing up. Tweens and teens are likely to get acne because of the increased hormones in their bodies. There are different types of acne, if you have acne and are interested in learning more about it, go to this site The Six Main Types of Acne - Apostrophe.
