Could we start with you telling me a bit more about yourself with regards to what Venezuela actually is like? Is it colorful? What are the people like there? Community?

“Venezuela is an amazing country. People are super happy Venezuela is a country that you can find  whatever you want in terms of weather and climate. You can have, you can do. There is an area says, no,  there is desert. There is a beach. There is forest actually the biggest fall in the world is in Venezuela. The name is Ang and that area is amazing.”

Have you ever felt discriminated against for being from Latin America?

“Yeah. Sure. Here in the train, when I moved here to Switzerland, you know, I remember it was summer and I  was in the train and then I opened the window and that guy was like, asked me, oh you are not from  here. You should leave this country. And yeah, I was pregnant of you actually, when that happened, ”

What was it like growing up in Venezuela?

“It's amazing. I mean, like you have all, most of the time you have big family, all this family get together  for barbecue, you know, all the time, it's a party, you know, but this party party is like a friend of friend  call you where you are and at home. And then the other one friend call you. And then in them,  everybody's in your house and it's like a party, but you didn't organize nothing. Yeah, people are very open”

I think when, of course, people know that I'm from Venezuela because of my accent.

When you were growing up was your family privileged or not so privileged?

“Yes, thank god my family is very privileged, you know, and we were able to have a very good life to  travel around the world and have a very good education.”

Have you always felt the same about Venezuela being this beautiful, wonderful place or has it changed  over time?

“Of course, the Venezuela's the country, the, it didn't change because it's still beautiful in terms of  beaches, forests and places. But of course because of, as I say, because of the political situation, there is  more people, there are more poor people, you know, hospitals are not working. There is no medicine. So  yes, it have been changed a lot compare when I used to live there. And that is very sad what their identities are, and how that informs them. Maybe in short you’d say, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover.”
